Goldy Brar declared 'terrorist' under UAPA; here's what Centre said on criminal

New Delhi: The Ministry of Home Affairs has declared Canada-based gangster Goldy Brar a designated terrorist under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). Brar had claimed responsibility for the audacious murder of Indian rap star and Congress politician, Sidhu Moosewala.

In June, Interpol issued red-corner notices against Goldy Brar after a request was sent by the Punjab Police to the Interpol through the CBI.

Satinderjit Singh, popularly known as Goldy Brar, went to Canada in 2017 on a student visa. He has been running his criminal activities from there, including murders and extortion. He is a close associate of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.

In an official notification, the Centre said Satwinder Singh alias Goldy Brar, the son of Shamsher Singh and Preetpal Kaur born on 11.04.1994, who presently lives in Canada's Brampton, is associated with the pro-Khalistan terrorist group Babbar Khalsa.

It said Brar, backed by a cross-border agency, was involved in multiple killings and “professes radical ideology, figured in making threatening calls to pro-nationalist leaders, demanding ransom and posting the claims of killings on different social media platforms.”

The Centre said Goldy Brar has been involved in the smuggling of high-grade arms, ammunition and explosive materials through drones from across the border and supplying them for his violent activities.

It said Brar has been conspiring to disrupt the peace, communal harmony and law and order of Punjab through "nefarious designs including sabotage, raising of terror modules, carrying out targeted killings and other anti-national activities."

Last year, the Centre had issued a red-corner notice to INTERPOL.

"The Central Government believes that Satwinder Singh @ Satinderjit Singh @ Goldy Brar is involved in terrorism and the said Satwinder Singh @ Satinderjit Singh @ Goldy Brar is to be added as a terrorist in the Fourth Schedule to the said Act," it said.

Brar had claimed responsibility for the 2022 murder of the singer in Punjab's Mansa. According to the 1,850-page chargesheet filed in the Moose Wala murder case, Brar was the mastermind behind the killing.

He claimed in a social media post that he got the singer killed to avenge the murder of student leader Vicky Middukhera.
