Covid: With 14,830 cases, India sees minor dip in tally; 36 deaths in 24 hours

India on Tuesday reported a dip in daily Covid-19 cases with the fresh tally going below the 15k-mark after nearly a week. In the past 24 hours, the country registered 14,830 fresh cases, taking the total tally of the infections – registered since the start of the pandemic – to 43,920,451. Thirty-six deaths in the same time span took the death toll to 5,26,110. A day ago, India had reported 16,866 fresh cases and 41 deaths.

The active cases stood at 1,47,512 comprising 0.34 per cent of the total infections, the health ministry data showed. A decline of 3,365 cases has been recorded in the active caseload in a span of 24 hours, the data further said.
The national Covid-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.47 per cent, the health ministry said, adding that 18,159 people recuperated from the disease in the last 24 hours. The total recoveries from Covid disease now stand at 4,32,46,829, it said.
The daily positivity rate was recorded at 3.48 per cent and the weekly positivity rate at 4.53 per cent.
Under the ongoing nationwide Covid vaccination campaign, 202.5 crore vaccine doses have been administered in the country so far. Of them, 30,42,476 doses were administered in the last 24 hours.
