Cuteness overload: Bhutan’s one-year-old crown prince is winning hearts in India

India can’t get enough of the one-year-old Bhutan Crown Prince.

Bhutan’s royal family of King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and Queen Jetsun Pema Wangchuck, along with the crown prince, arrived yesterday.

But there was someone else who stole the thunder during their first visit since India and China ended a 73-day-old standoff on Doklam plateau two months ago: The Gyalsey or little prince Prince Jigme Namgyal Wangchuk.

Dressed in traditional Bhutanese attire, the one-year-old is winning the hearts of Indian leaders and the internet with his cuteness. From Prime Minister Narendra Modi to external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj to defence minister Nirmala Sitharaman, no one could manage to keep away from the prince’s charm.

The ministry of external affairs tweeted a photo of Swaraj receiving the royal family at the airport. The little prince happily followed the minister as she taught him to wave at the photographers when one of them asked him to say ‘Hi’.

The little prince was presented with an official football from the Fifa U-17 World Cup and a chess set by Modi, to which the little one bowed prettily with joined hands, quickly reaching for the ball.
