‘Difficult to celebrate Hindu festivals under previous govts’: Yogi Adityanath
UP CM maintained that previous governments engaged in hooliganism and did not let Hindus celebrate their festivals.
Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday said it was difficult for Hindus to celebrate festivals like Janmashtami and Durga Puja under previous governments when hooliganism, lawlessness and anarchy were very high.
“Anarchy has no place in this government and those exploiting businessmen and the common people will either be jailed or will have to be ready for Ram Nam Satya Hai (the mantra chanted during cremation),” Adityanath said at a public meeting in Khorabar in Gorakhpur, which goes to polls in the seventh and final phase on May 19.
At another rally in support of BJP candidate Ravi Kishan, he described the SP-BSP alliance as unholy and a symbol of corruption and dishonesty.
Even before the final phase of election a blame game had started in the alliance, he said, adding that they will put the onus of defeat on each other after May 23.
“This alliance is not going to continue for long,” he said.
He said Samajwadi Party rebel and Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party-Lohia chief Shivpal Yadav was among those most upset with the alliance.
“Shivpal Yadav says he has no sisters, then how does Akhilesh get a bua (BSP chief Mayawati),” the chief minister said.
He also attacked Congress eastern UP in charge Priyanka Gandhi Vadra for her recent admittance that the party had fielded weak candidates on some seats to cut the BJP’s votes.
“Two years ago, we had heard about muhnochwa and this party has come up with vote katwas. You need to teach a lesson to the vote katwa (vote-cutter party),” the chief minister said.
Muhnochwa is a mysterious person who had created panic in the city by scratching faces of people and disappearing in the dark a few years ago.
The chief minister blamed the Samajwadi Party for closing down sugar mills of the region.
He also accused the BSP of selling closed factories of east UP at throwaway prices and added that farmers will teach the alliance a lesson.
