Former Chhattisgarh chief minister Ajit Jogi was shifted from the Ramkrishna Hospital in Raipur to a private medical institution in Gurugram on Tuesday evening, days after he was diagnosed with pneumonia.
Doctors said the 72-year-old Janata Congress chief was admitted to the Raipur Hospital soon after he came down with acute pulmonary oedema, which causes the lungs to fill up with fluid. A release issued by his son, Amit, stated that he was shifted to Medanta Hospital for further treatment under the supervision of Dr Naresh Trehan.
Sandeep Dave, director of Ramkrishna Hospital, said Jogi was kept on ventilator support after he complained of chest pain and breathing problems. “He is stable, but has been sent to Medanta Hospital by air ambulance for further treatment,” he added.
Jogi’s wife Renu, son Amit and daughter-in-law Richa accompanied him to Gurugram.
