Jammu and Kashmir police parade Pakistan terror suspect before media
Baramulla’s Senior Superintendent of Police Abdul Qayoom said the terrorist was trained in Muzaffarabad in Pakistan-controlled Kashmir for four months before he infiltrated into Jammu and Kashmir in July 2017.
The Jammu and Kashmir police on Wednesday paraded a man in front of media, whom they claimed was a Lashkar-e-Taiba militant from
Pakistan.
“Pakistan always waits for live evidence; today we have to share that live evidence with you. A militant from Pakistan comes here to run militancy for [the past] two years and is involved in many activities, many of which we can’t share with you,” Jammu and Kashmir director general of police Dilbag Singh said at Police Control Room in Srinagar before the man was brought in front of the reporters.
A little later, the suspect, dressed in black and grey attire, emerged. He said his name was Mohammad Waqar and that he was a resident of Mianwali in Pakistan. “I belong to LeT and came here in 2017,” he said.
“His coming in front of you and telling you where he lives and where he trained and since what day he has been active , at least, this will be a live evidence for Pakistan that how they prepare people for militancy here for JeM [Jaish-e-Mohammed] and LeT,” the DGP said.
Waqar,27, said that he trained in Muzaffarabad for four months. “I was told there is persecution of children and women here. Muslims are not allowed to offer prayers in mosques. Their houses are demolished. There are excesses,” he said.
Abdul Qayoom, senior superintendent of police, Baramulla, said that Waqar was a resident of Mianwali, Punjab in Pakistan. “He was operating in different areas in these two years in Srinagar and was travelling to Baramulla with a local driver when he was captured at a check point after they rammed their car into a security vehicle,” he said.
