In his plea filed in the apex court, Shinde said the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance in Maharashtra has lost the majority in the house as 38 of the members of the Shiv Sena have withdrawn their support thus bringing it below the majority in the house.
Moments before the hearing commenced, Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray re-allocated the portfolios held by rebel Eknath Shinde and another rebel Sena minister Uday Samant, according to the chief minister's office (CMO).
