Maharashtra crisis LIVE: Sena leaders hold meetings in seats of rebel MLAs in Aurangabad
Maharashtra political crisis LIVE: The Shiv Sena faced a major embarrassment on Sunday after higher and technical education minister Uday Samant joined the Eknath Shinde faction.
The political crisis in Maharashtra has entered the second week with the group of rebel Shiv Sena MLAs, led by Eknath Shinde, securing a hearing of the Supreme Court on Monday against the disqualification notices issued to them by the deputy speaker of the Maharashtra assembly Narhari Zirwal.
The hearing has started.
In his plea filed in the apex court, Shinde said the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance in Maharashtra has lost the majority in the house as 38 of the members of the Shiv Sena have withdrawn their support thus bringing it below the majority in the house.
Moments before the hearing commenced, Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray re-allocated the portfolios held by rebel Eknath Shinde and another rebel Sena minister Uday Samant, according to the chief minister's office (CMO).
