LUCKNOW In a suspect tiger attack, a 32-year-old man was killed while returning home from work in Pilibhit late on Sunday evening. The incident came to light on Monday morning when his body was recovered.

“We found Tiger pugmarks near the body. The post-mortem has been conducted and now, the legal process will begin,” said Piyush M Srivastava, senior forest official in Pilibhit.
Victim Gokul worked on construction sites and was on his way back home when the incident took place in Tanda village. Later, on Monday, his family found his body while searching for him. The family insisted that the wild animal be caught first. However, forest officials somehow convinced them to allow proceedings.
The blood-stained clothes of the deceased have also been found and identified by the family. The forest officials will now initiate steps to catch the wild animals and make arrangements to install a cage.
The compensation paid by the state government to the bereaved family in such cases is ₹5 lakh.
