Met warning for severe weather: Heavy rain, strong winds to hit many states
Heavy rain is expected in MP, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, UP, Vidarbha, Jharkhand, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, northeastern states, Maharashtra, Konkan and Goa.
The India Meteorological Department on Thursday issued warning for severe weather – heavy or extremely heavy rainfall and strong winds – in several parts of the country for five days. The warning is for isolated incidents of severe weather between July 27 and 31.

On July 27, heavy to extremely heavy rainfall is expected in Madhya Pradesh, East Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, East Uttar Pradesh, Vidarbha, Jharkhand, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, six of the seven northeastern states, Madhya Maharashtra, Konkan and Goa. The same day, strong winds with speed between 30 – 50 kmph is likely to hit MP, North Chhattisgarh and southern parts of Uttar Pradesh.
The next day heavy rain is likely in East Rajasthan, West MP, Gujarat, HP, West Rajasthan, East MP, Saurashtra and Kutch, Madhya Maharashtra, Konkan and Goa.
These regions, along with the six northeastern states may experience heavy rainfall on July 30, according to the predictions of IMD.
