Militants shoot and injure police officer in Kashmir’s Pulwama

Police said militants fired upon SPO Aquib Ahmad Wagat, who was working at the railway police station in Pulwama on Tuesday evening . The SPO sustained critical injuries.

Police said Wagat received serious bullet injuries in both of his legs. “Wagat was shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment and police has registered a case,” the spokesman said.

In the past few days, militants have stepped up activities in south Kashmir and killed an army man and injured three other soldiers in two separate attacks in Shopian and Pulwama districts. Militants have also snatched nine rifles from policemen in different parts of the Valley since the unilateral Ramzan ceasefire was announced by the government.
