Modi, Rahul extend birthday greetings to Tamil Nadu CM Stalin
Kovind spoke to Stalin over the phone and greeted him. The President urged the chief minister to strive for Tamil Nadu’s progress, besides wishing him a long public life, an official release here said.
Wishes poured in for Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin who turned 69 on Tuesday, with President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and National Conference leader Omar Abdullah among others greeting the DMK president.

Kovind spoke to Stalin over the phone and greeted him. The President urged the chief minister to strive for Tamil Nadu’s progress, besides wishing him a long public life, an official release here said.
Modi took to Twitter as well as spoke to Stalin over the phone to extend his birthday greetings.
“Best wishes to Tamil Nadu CM Thiru @mkstalin Ji on his birthday. I pray for his long and healthy life,” the Prime Minister tweeted.
A state government release said Modi also spoke with Stalin over the phone and expressed his wish for the chief minister to continue working for Tamil Nadu’s growth.
Stalin told Modi he will do so “with your cooperation,” the release stated.
Tamil Nadu Governor R N Ravi also wished Stalin over phone and sent him a flower bouquet as well. Congress MP Rahul Gandhi wished Stalin over the phone, an official release said. He expressed joy over Stalin’s “youthful looks” and wished him a long life with good health.
His mother and party chief Sonia Gandhi wished Stalin over the phone. West Bengal CM and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee sent a flower bouquet to Stalin, along with a message greeting him, an official release said.
“Wishing Thiru @mkstalin a very happy birthday and a long life ahead in the service of the people of Tamil Nadu and the nation,” NC leader and former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah said in a tweet.
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan also extended birthday greetings to Stalin.
“I met and congratulated comrade M K Stalin who is celebrating his birthday today. I wish him further strengthening of the historic Kerala-Tamil Nadu relationship and his continued struggle for the noble principles enshrined in the Constitution of India,” he said in a tweet in Tamil.
Telangana Governor and Chief Minister, Tamilisai Soundararajan and K Chandrasekhar Rao, respectively, actors Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan, also leader of Makkal Needhi Maiam, greeted the CM.
Earlier, Stalin paid tributes to late Dravidian stalwarts E V Ramasamy Periyar, C N Annadurai (DMK founder) and his father M Karunanidhi on his birthday. He paid floral tributes at the memorials of these leaders.
Various leaders and party workers extended their birthday greetings to Stalin, who assumed office last year after his party won the Assembly polls.
Rahul Gandhi had released Stalin’s autobiography, ‘Ungalil Oruvan’ (One among you), on Monday.
