Three sisters sustained severe burns on their faces and eyes after two motorcycle-borne assailants allegedly threw acid on them when the girls were returning from the fields. The incident took place in Ramgarh Kothari village in trans-Ganga area near Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh on Saturday evening.

As per reports, Radha, 22 and Shreya, 16, and their cousin Rekha, 23, were returning after relieving themselves when the youths threw acid on them. Villagers rushed to the scene on hearing the girls’ cries but the suspects managed to flee.
Police took the girls to a nearby hospital. They were later shifted to SRN hospital, informed SP trans-Ganga Rajesh Srivastava.
The girls’ family alleged that their neighbour was involved in the incident.
Primary investigation revealed that neighbour had been harassing one of the victims, Srivastava added.
