Mulayam Singh not to celebrate his birthday following Kanpur train tragedy

Samajwadi Party (SP) national president Mulayam Singh Yadav on Monday called off his birthday celebrations across the state on Tuesday due to the train tragedy near Kanpur.

Party’s state president Shivpal Yadav announced the decision.

Mulayam was born on November 22, 1939 at Saifai village in Etawah district of Uttar Pradesh. The party generally celebrates his birthday with great pomp and show.

Last year’s celebrations involved a live concert by AR Rahman at Saifai.

At least 147 people have died after the Indore-Patna Express derailed near Kanpur Dehat district of Uttar Pradesh on Sunday.
