No-confidence motion: Uddhav Thackeray furious with 2 MPs over flip-flop
The flip-flop over the party first issuing whip and later withdrawing the same followed with diktat to its 18 MPs not to attend the proceedings of the no-trust motion has embarrassed the Shiv Sena.
The embarrassment the Shiv Sena faced due to its flip-flop over stand on the no-trust motion moved against the Modi government in the Lok Sabha has angered Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray.
A close aide of the Sena chief said Thackeray is furious with two senior Members of Parliament who were apparently behind the goof-up over a party whip directing MPs to remain present in the Lok Sabha on Friday and support the government. The whip was opposite to what Thackeray wanted his MPs to do and the party had to withdraw it within hours after it was issued on Thursday. However, no immediate action against the two MPs is likely since the party leadership is not keen on washing dirty linen in public.
The flip-flop over the party first issuing whip and later withdrawing the same followed with diktat to its 18 MPs not to attend the proceedings of the no-trust motion has embarrassed the Sena. The Sena, which is the BJP’s partner in power at the Centre as well as in the state, chose to boycott the proceedings in the Lok Sabha. The Thackeray aide said there was no decision taken to support the government. “Uddhavji was surprised when media ran a story on Sena issuing whip asking MPs to support the government on the floor of Lok Sabha. He had spoken with each of our 18 MPs on the issue,”said the aide.
