Odisha CM Patnaik meets actor Ranveer Singh ahead of Hockey World Cup
The men's hockey World Cup - organised by the International Hockey Federation (FIH) - is scheduled to be held in two cities - Bhubaneswar and Rourkela.
Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik met actor Ranveer Singh Wednesday ahead of the 2023 men's hockey World Cup, which the state is hosting. The Bollywood actor arrived in Cuttack to take part in pre-event festivities at the Barabati Stadium. Music director Pritam and actor Disha Patani will also be part of Wednesday's celebrations.

Sharing pictures, Patnaik tweeted, "It is a pleasure meeting popular actor @RanveerOfficial ahead of #HockeyWorldCup2023 Celebrations at Barabati Stadium, #Cuttack."
"I am sure his presence will add a lot of charm to the celebration. Let’s all join to celebrate the spirit of hockey," he wrote. Ranveer Singh gifted the CM a jersey with his name on it.
The men's hockey World Cup - organised by the International Hockey Federation (FIH) - is scheduled to be held in two cities - Bhubaneswar and Rourkela. The chief minister had previously said that if India wins the World Cup, each member will receive ₹1 crore.
Last week, CM Patnaik formally inaugurated the World Cup Village at the Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium Complex in Rourkela. The World Cup Village was built in a record nine months and features 225 rooms with all the amenities befitting the hockey World Cup's stature.
Also, a National Hockey Conclave was organised in Konark, on Tuesday in which members of hockey fraternity from across India gathered. Chief minister Naveen Patnaik welcomed the delegates through a video message.

"India is hosting the hockey men's World Cup for the second consecutive time and like us in Odisha, I am sure, each one of you feels immensely proud to be a part of this prestigious tournament. The emotional connection that each one has for Hockey and the World Cup reflects in your participation in this National Hockey Conclave," he said.
