A team of forensic officials reached the site and took samples from the body of 40-year-old Sugadh Jatav. Jatav died on Sunday morning, a few days after he was released from the central jail in Sewar.
“Police was tipped off that the family members of the deceased were trying to cremate the body in a hurry because the man was murdered. A team rushed to the spot, extinguished the funeral pyre and took out the body for postmortem and forensic tests,” Bharatpur SP Kailash Chandra Bishnoi said. “We have found some blood samples in the house of the deceased and are interrogating a person whom we have detained,” he added.
Jatav was released from jail on September 19 after 16 days in jail. He was arrested because his family complained that he would often beat his wife and children after drinking alcohol.
Police said they received information that Jatav’s elder son Bhagat Singh had shot him after he was fed up of his father’s alcoholism. Rural circle officer Dharmendra Singh said Bhagat was being interrogated.
