Republic Day 2023: The 74th Republic Day celebrations took place on the revamped Central Vista avenue, the first at the ceremonial boulevard after Rajpath was renamed to Kartavya Path last year.
President Droupadi Murmu led the nation in celebrating the 74th Republic Day from Kartavya Path with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi as the chief guest at the parade. The Republic Day parade was a unique mix of India's military prowess and cultural diversity, depicting the country’s growing indigenous capabilities, Nari Shakti and emergence of a ‘New India’, according to the ministry of Defence. A total of 23 tableaux – 17 from states and Union territories and six from various ministries and departments – depicting India's vibrant cultural heritage, and economic and social progress were part of the parade on the Kartavya Path.

Thrilling motorcycle display by Corps of Signals’ Dare Devils team will enthrall the audience with an array of formations, which will also include a Yoga display. The grand finale and the most eagerly-awaited segment of the parade, the Fly Past, will witness a breath-taking air show by 45 aircraft of Indian Air Force, one from the Indian Navy and four helicopters of Indian Army.
479 artists to add colour and groove to the Republic Day parade
Cultural performances by 479 artists chosen through the nation-wide Vande Bharatam dance competition will add colour and groove to the Republic Day parade. The theme of the cultural extravaganza will be ‘Nari Shakti’ presented by 326 female dancers, ably supported by 153 male dancers, of age group 17-30 years.

The flying of sub-conventional aerial platforms, including paragliders, paramotors, hang gliders, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), unmanned aircraft systems (UASs), microlight aircraft, remotely-piloted aircraft, hot air balloons, small-sized powered aircraft, quadcopters or para-jumping from aircraft, have been prohibited in the national capital in lieu of Republic Day celebrations. Security beefed up in national capital ahead of Republic Day
Security has been beefed up in several parts of the national capital ahead of the 74th Republic Day celebrations. Police personnel could be seen conducting thorough checks of vehicles, reported ANI. Heavy barricading has been placed at intersections, checkpoints with sniffer dogs, and metal detectors. About 6,000 jawans have been deployed for security for the January 26 parade, which includes the paramilitary forces, and NSG apart from Delhi Police.
