SSI killed, 4 cops on patrolling duty injured as tractor trolley rams into jeep

A senior sub-inspector of police was on Sunday killed and four policemen were injured after a tractor-trolley rammed into their jeep here.

According to deputy superintendent of police (Rural) Aditya Shukla, the incident occurred in the evening when a police party was on patrolling duty and a brick-laden tractor trolley, coming from the opposite direction, rammed into it.

In the incident, Zakir Ali, a senior sub-inspector (SSI) attached to the Surir police station, was killed on the spot, while four other policemen, including the driver of the jeep, were injured, the officer said.

All the injured were rushed to a hospital, he said, adding that the condition of the driver was serious.

The body of the SSI was sent for a post-mortem, said the officer.

The driver of the tractor-trolley fled the spot after the incident.

A case has been registered in this regard.
