Tamil Nadu election result LIVE: Chief minister MK Stalin stepped up post-poll coordination efforts ahead of counting day, meeting key alliance leaders to assess ground-level feedback and discuss victory prospects after the Assembly elections.

After returning from a four-day break in Kodaikanal, Stalin first held internal discussions with senior DMK leaders on Saturday, reviewing the situation across constituencies and taking stock of reports from different regions.

Following the internal review, Stalin met alliance partners at the party headquarters, Anna Arivalayam, including Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president K Selvaperunthagai and Kongunadu Makkal Desiya Katchi (KMDK) General Secretary E R Eswaran. The discussions focused on coordination between allies and overall expectations from the DMK-led alliance.

According to DMK sources cited by news agency PTI, Stalin also inquired about preparations for monitoring the counting process in their respective constituencies, with emphasis on real-time tracking and booth-level coordination.

The KMDK, which is contesting in two Assembly constituencies on the DMK symbol, is also part of the alliance’s counting-day arrangement.

Fighting under the Whistle symbol, Vijay has taken a solo route in his first electoral outing, refusing alliances to maintain what his party describes as its “secular social justice principles.”

His campaign pitch has centred on youth welfare, drug eradication, and reforms in government recruitment exams.

Among his key promises are monthly financial assistance of ₹4,000 for graduates and ₹2,500 for women, forming the core of his welfare-driven agenda aimed at young voters and first-time electorates.

However, his debut political campaign has unfolded amid heightened scrutiny and challenges, including legal disputes linked to his final film Jananayakan, along with an ongoing CBI investigation into a 2025 stampede incident in Karur, that killed over 30 people.

Tamil Nadu election result LIVE: The Assembly elections witnessed a record voter turnout, marking the highest participation level in decades. According to election commission, the overall polling stood at 84.69 per cent, the highest-ever turnout recorded in the state since Independence.

This surpassed the previous peak of 78.29 per cent recorded in 2011.

Region-wise, Karur district recorded the highest turnout at 92.62 per cent, while Kanniyakumari registered the lowest at 75.61 per cent. In major cities, Chennai recorded 83.73 per cent, Madurai 80.55 per cent, Coimbatore 84.76 per cent, and Tiruchirappalli 85.43 per cent.
