Those with non-bailable warrants may lose voting rights in Madhya Pradesh assembly election

Rao said there are over 80,000 non-bailable warrants in the state, which the police are going to deliver before the elections.
Informing about the security arrangement for effective monitoring of model code of conduct in the state for the polls he said, “Police have installed CCTV cameras in 10,000 places in the state and these would be used for maintaining law and order situation besides effective monitoring of model code of conduct. The cameras are also being installed in the police vehicles.”
Rao said the election commission has been setting up the command/control rooms at the district and state level, where the situation would be monitored through police CCTV cameras.
“We will effectively use Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS) of the police during election,” he said and added that the CCTV cameras would be installed at the drop gates, check posts, barriers at inter-state borders for the monitoring.
CEO said that final publication of voters list would be done on September 27.
In reply to a question, Rao said, “During the electoral rolls revision work, EC has received 24 lakh applications for the removal of names, about 11 lakh for the addition of names and around 13 lakh requests for the correction.”
He said that as compared to previous assembly election, the number of booths in the state has also gone up from around 53,000 to 65,340.
