India all-rounder Hardik Pandya is enjoying some of his best days on the field as well as off it. From living up to the promises made to his brother Krunal to hitting the media out of the park, the 23-year-old does not seem to be putting a step wrong.
When a media house circulated a photo on social media of Hardik alongside a girl whom they called ‘mystery lady’, he solved the riddle in style.
Mystery solved! That's my sister 😉— hardik pandya (@hardikpandya7) October 2, 2017
Also, Krunal, who has been a vital cog in the Indian Premier League (IPL) team Mumbai Indians (MI) along with his brother Hardik, has revealed that the Indian all-rounder had promised him to ‘set the stage on fire’ during the recently-concluded India-Australia ODI series.
Hardik played a significant role in India’s 4-1 win in the five-match series, grabbing the opportunity to bat much higher in the batting order with both hands on one occasion.
He finished as the third highest run-getter for India — fifth overall in the series — with 222 runs in five matches at 55.50, scoring two fifties. Hardik also claimed six wickets in the series and was named the ‘Man of the Series.’
Hardik, who is now being compared with former India captain Kapil Dev for his all-round abilities, had apparently promised his brother that he would make most of his form in the ODI series against Australia.
For the second time in a row, India captain Virat Kohli insisted the importance of Hardik’s role in the team. Kohli had termed Hardik’s performances as the ‘biggest positive’ following their 9-0 away win in Sri Lanka across formats, last month.
“Hardik Pandya is the biggest asset (from the series). Selection dilemma is always a good headache for me as a captain because it’s always better to have plenty to pick from and take the best eleven possible,” Kohli said after India’s series win over Australia.
India and Australia now head into a three-match T20I series, starting Saturday. The three T20Is will be played at Ranchi, Guwahati and Hyderabad on October 7, 10 and 13 respectively.
