Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan guided India to a nine-wicket win via DLS method over Australia in the first T20I at the JSCA stadium in Ranchi in a game that was reduced to six overs due to rain. Chasing a revised total of 48, India lost Rohit Sharma cheaply but Kohli and Dhawan guided India over the line. Earlier, Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav picked up two wickets each as Australia were restricted to 118/8, with Aaron Finch top scoring with 42. However, after a one-hour rain delay, the target was revised and Australia suffered their seventh consecutive T20I loss against India and their fourth consecutive in India.
