In the first incident, the police and eyewitnesses said unknown militants opened fired at two CRPF men outside Pamposh Hotel in Regal Chowk at 11.20 am on Saturday, wounding them seriously.

CRPF spokesperson Prabhakar Tripathi said the injured were rushed to Soura medical institute. He said the one of the injured cop was critical. The shootout created panic in the area and people and shopkeepers ran for cover.

“I heard just two or three bullet shots,” said Ghulam Qadir, a worker with a nearby bakery shop.
In the second incident, terrorists struck at Batamaloo where they targeted a Jammu and Kashmir policeman. A police spokesperson said in a statement that the terrorists fired at constable Mohammad Shafi Bhat near Hotel Akbar Batamaloo. He died on the spot.

Though no militant group has claimed responsibility for the attack, it is suspected that Jaish-e-Mohammed is responsible for the attack.
