According to officials of the DTP (enforcement), all illegal structures, mushrooming on 125-metre-wide road from Bazgera to Bijwasan, were removed. The drive will continue in other areas as well.

The department has also identified several hundred unauthorised constructions which have come up in other parts of the city without having permission from the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG).

“All those constructions have not been granted permission by the MCG and these were not on MCG land,” said MR Sharma, executive engineer, MCG, enforcement.

The department has been conducting a survey to identify more unauthorised structures. “We are conducting a survey of the area and at the same time, will demolish illegal constructions,” said Dilbag Singh, district town planner (enforcement).

During demolition, police personnel were deployed to thwart protests by residents, who said they were not given notices before razing the structures.

“Demolition is being carried out without prior intimation to the owners,” said area councillor Rishi Raj Rana.
