10 injured as jeep overturns

Ten persons were seriously injured when their jeep overturned on the Varanasi-Ghazipur highway in Khanpur, reports Bharat Kumar.

Ten persons were seriously injured when their jeep overturned on the Varanasi-Ghazipur highway in Khanpur, Rajwari area under Khanpur police station in Ghazipur district on Monday.

Four of the injured have been admitted to a Varanasi hospital for treatment.

According to information, a group of devotees of Makdulpur village in Ghazipur was going to the famous temple of Lord Shiva in Kaithi on a jeep. As the jeep reached near Rajwari bridge, it overturned causing severe injuries to 10 persons, including four women and two minors.

The locals started the relief work and rushed them to a nearby primary health centre from where Mrs Lalmani (55), Chandan (18), Indrasani (70) and Ashish (12) were referred to a hospital in Varanasi. The other injured are Kamla (13), Bal Chandra (30), Savitri (40), Veermati (28), Sukhdevi (35) and Vinod (30).
