“We have taken action against traffic violators, including policemen, if found guilty. The social networking website Facebook has helped us as 60% traffic violation cases involving policemen were captured on cameras by locals. These were uploaded on the traffic police page,” said Bharti Arora, DCP (traffic). The Gurgaon traffic police page on Facebook has become a hit as residents can share their grievances in a manner which is just and fair.

Since its launch, 4,640 facebook users have already liked the profile. “It’s always good to get information from the commuters. We take complaints seriously and we have also deployed a special team to reply to posts on a priority basis. We want more people to join this page fir regular feedback,” said Arora. Recently, head constable Sarvan Kumar was suspended after Facebook user Daksh Ghudaiya uploaded a video of Kumar demanding R1,000 as bribe.
