100 injured in Kashmir village fire

At least 100 people have been injured in Jammu and Kashmir's Kishtwar district when a blaze engulfed 160 houses.

At least 100 people were injured on Tuesday when a huge blaze engulfed 160 houses of a village in Jammu and Kashmir's Kishtwar district, the police said.

A police spokesman said that a fire broke out in Magi village in Wadhwan area, about 250 km northeast of Jammu, in the morning. "All the 160 mud and thatched houses in the village were gutted and at least 100 people, including women and children, were injured in the accident," he said.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known.

Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has requested the Indian Air Force to send choppers to airlift the injured to the Government Medical College Hospital in Jammu.
