108-year old woman exercises her franchise

The Nirman Bhavan polling booth in New Delhi Parliamentary constituency, where Congress President Sonia Gandhi exercised her franchise, saw an 108-year old woman casting her vote.

Dalawati was helped to the polling station by her relatives who carried her on a chair soon after Gandhi had left the place.

Emerging from the high-security booth, a frail but enthusiastic Dalawati, to a question whether she was comfortable in handling the EVM, told reporters "I made an effort to learn it and now that I have cast my vote I feel good".

She also made a mention of the changes which have occurred since she exercised her franchise for the first time many years back.
