11 kids hurt in school bus, truck collision
TINY TOTS had a narrow escape when a rashly-driven truck hit a school bus of King George?s Inter College in Ghazipur on Friday. As many as 11 kids suffered minor injuries, while a girl student was critically injured and was undergoing treatment at the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital. The erring truck driver fled the scene.
TINY TOTS had a narrow escape when a rashly-driven truck hit a school bus of King George’s Inter College in Ghazipur on Friday. The incident took place when a school bus (UP 32 Z-9709) carrying children was heading towards their school in Indira Nagar in the morning. On reaching Surendra Nagar crossing, a truck (RJ 14-1 G 8712) coming from the opposite direction hit the bus head on.
The bus driver was alert to avert major damage to the vehicle. But, a girl student sitting close to the driver’s seat suffered critical injuries while eleven other kids sustained minor injuries.
The accident caused panic among the kids while passersby gathered at the scene. They rushed the injured kids to the hospital, where all of them except the critically injured girl, were provided medical aid and sent back home. On the other hand, the erring driver left the truck and fled the scene. Local residents chased the accused but managed to give the mob the slip.
Meanwhile, two trucks (UP 70 AT-3301) and (HR 38 Z-3043) collided head on near Janki petrol pump at Bakshi ka Talab in the morning. The impact of the collision could be gauged from the evidence that one of the trucks caught fire. Both drivers suffered critical injuries and were admitted to the KGMU Trauma Centre.
