Rebels killed at least 12 army recruits and wounded 38 more in a bomb attack on an Iraqi army recruitment centre in the city of Hilla, south of Baghdad, police said.

The bomb was hidden on a parked bicycle and was set off at around 8:00 am as candidates applying to join the army gathered at the recruitment centre, a police officer from Hilla, 120 kms south of Baghdad, said.
