12 killed in road mishap near Ghaziabad

The accident happened when the bus, plying between Meerut to Bulendshahr, hit a tree after the driver lost control due to over speed.

Twelve people, including two women, were killed and 27 others seriously injured when a bus hit a tree in Hafizpur, about 40 kms from Ghaziabad, on Friday morning.

The accident happened when the bus, plying between Meerut to Bulendshahr, hit a tree after the driver lost control due to over speed, said District Magistrate Ajay Shukla.

All the 12 people died on the spot, he said.

The injured were admitted in three nearby hospitals.

Senior Superintendent of Police Deepak Ratan has reached the spot.

An inquiry has been ordered into the accident, Shukla said, adding the Uttar Pradesh Government would bear the medical expenses of the injured.
