12 names okayed for May 3 polls

Except the nomination of BJP's Mallipudi Veera Raghavalu, the nominations of 12 candidates were accepted after scrutiny of nominations for the Yanam constituency on Thursday for the first phase of May 3 assembly polls in Pondicherry.

Those in the fray after scrutiny included Malladi Krishna Rao (Cong), who was an independent member in the outgoing assembly, Machala Satya Sai Kumar (AIADMK), Moka Venkateswara Rao (BSP) and Elipe Rajkumar (Buddhiviveki Vikas Party - a registered unrecognised party, official sources said.

The nominations of eight independents were also accepted, the source said.
