"The grenade exploded on the road, resulting in injuries to 18 persons. The injured were taken to a hospital at Pulwama, where attending doctors referred four critically wounded persons to Srinagar for specialised treatment," said a police officer.

The explosion led to panic in the market where security was then beefed up.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the blast.
