This comes a day after a tree collapse triggered by a landslide injured five persons, including two children, at Antop Hill on Saturday evening.

Since August 2010, Hindustan Times has been on how civic negligence has taken a toll on lives and limbs of reporting on tree collapses across the city. Last year, tree collapses had killed four and injured numerous others.

Two weeks ago, a huge banyan tree had collapsed outside the Crossroads2 (CR2) mall at Nariman point, crushing a 25-year-old woman and her six-month-old baby on the spot.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), in-charge of pruning trees in the city to avoid such accidents, has now constituted an experts panel, which will recommend the measures to be taken to avoid such collapses.
