“To streamline the examination process, three different centres on campus at Mahatma Gandhi Marg and the Law campus as well as the Girls wing (new Campus) situated at Kamla Nehru Road have been designated. Girl students will take exam at the girls’ campus while the boys will appear at the main campus as per the seating plan, a copy of which has been pasted on the notice board,” said CMP College Principal Dr Kiran Shankar on Friday.Addressing media persons, Dr Shankar said a copy of the seating plan would also be available with the roaming guides deputed to help candidates in locating their seats.

“A special proforma has been designed by us for the candidates having problem or anomaly in their admit cards. The proforma may be obtained from the dealing assistant for the class and be submitted duly filled, along with photocopies of the fee receipt of admission and also the photocopies of marksheets of previous years (for II and III year appearance), to obtain permission from the centre superintendent,” he added. He said in case of a spelling mistake in names, candidates must bring the original copy of their High School certificate along with a photocopy. Dr Shankar said to facilitate transparent examination, an internal squad of senior faculty members, proctors and dean, Student Welfare, has been formed.“Boys should contact officers in the main wing while girls can do so in the girls wing between 11.30 am and  1.30 pm for other works. Owing to examination in both the meetings, it would not be possible to give permission to anyone to enter college premises during any other time,” he added.

‘Keep local self govts away from politics’

Local Self governments should not be politicised as this deters them from their objective, according to Additional Advocate General (AAG) of Uttaranchal CB Pandey who was speaking at the valedictory session of a national seminar on ‘Urban self-government in India in the era of Globalisation’. He also said that political parties should not be entertained in the elections and working of the local self governments.

The seminar was organised by the department of Political Science, Allahabad University (AU). Justice (rtd) Giridhar Malviya was the chief guest and AAG CB Pandey was the guest of honour while member of Uttaranchal Finance Commission, Prof BK Joshi, presided over the session.

According to Pandey, the involvement of political parties in the local self governments hindered its working as these parties targeted them to gain political supremacy rather than development of the society.

Justice Malviya wondered why local self governments were not given constitutional  status. He said that although the 74th amendment had given appropriate powers to the local self government, yet public awareness and support was desirable for its development.
