2.36 lakh birds culled in M'rashtra since March 29

The government has also paid compensation of Rs 4.5 lakh to the beneficiaries.

At least 2.36 lakh chickens in six bird flu-affected tehsils of Jalgaon district of Maharashtra have been culled since March 29, District Collector Vijay Singhal said on Wednesday.

The government has also paid compensation of Rs 4.5 lakh to the beneficiaries, Singhal said.

Also over 2 lakh people have been examined by the health workers in areas within 3 km radius of the affected tehsils and over 3 lakh in 3-10 km radius, for suspected symptoms of bird flu, he said.

He also added that no one was found to be affected by it.
