Two Hizb-ul-Mujahideen terrorists were killed in Thanala area in Bhaderwah in the mountainous district of Doda on Friday.

Giving details of the incident, Doda SSP Manohar Singh said, "On specific information regarding movement of militants in Thanala area under jurisdiction of police station Bhaderwah, a joint search operation was launched by local police and 04 Rashtriya Rifles of the Indian Army."
The SSP further said that the fire was retaliated in self-defence and in the ensuing gunbattle the two militants got killed. The slain militants have been identified as Abdul Hafiz Bhat, son of Bashir Ahmed Bhat, resident of Thanala; and Shahid Hussain, son of Noor Mohammad, resident of Basti Bhaderwah. Both were the active militants of the Hizbul cadre.
One sniper rifle, one 303 rifle and a large quantity of incriminating material were recovered from their possession.
