2 killed, 23 injured in J&K blast

A protest rally against terrorism was organised by BJP at a bus stand before the grenade explosion at 11:25am.

Two persons were killed and 23 others injured, four of them seriously, when terrorists hurled a grenade on a protest rally organised by BJP at a bus stand in Doda town of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, police said.

The terrorists exploded the grenade at 1125 hours at the bus stand where BJP activists were holding the rally in protest against the recent massacre of 19 Hindus at Kulhand in Doda district.

The explosion caused injuries to 25 persons, six of them seriously, police said adding that two seriously wounded succumbed to their injuries on way to district hospital.

The authorities have sent a helicopter to Doda to bring four seriously injured persons here for specialised treatment in Government Medical College Hospital (GMCH).

Others are being treated in district hospital at Doda.

Senior police and other security officials have reached the spot to take stock of the situation, they said adding that search operation has been launched to track down the terrorists responsible for the blast.
