2 ministers join Andhra govt

After taking support of the 17-MLA-strong Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) to prove its majority in the Andhra Pradesh assembly last month, the ruling Congress party in Andhra Pradesh rewarded it by inducting two of its members into the state cabinet. HT reports.

After C Ramchandraiah and G Srinivas Rao were sworn-in by governor ESL Narasimhan on Thursday morning, the merger of Chiranjeevi’s party with the Congress remained a mere formality. Initially a section of Congresss MLAs opposed the induction of Ramachandriah, who is an MLC, but the party high command gave its go-ahead after Chiranjeevi refused to change the name.
