Shana Devi, 22, had been admitted with severe pain and a huge swelling in her belly.

"The woman wasn't pregnant. Instead, after tests, we found a huge tumour lodged in her ovaries and uterus," HK Premi, a doctor at the Lady Reading hospital, said in Shimla on Tuesday.

The tumour was removed after a two-hour surgery and a team of half-a-dozen doctors and paramedics. "This is the first case of its kind the hospital has handled," said Premi.

The tumour has been sent to the pathology department for tests.
