During an early morning operation in the north of Baghdad, the US forces killed 12 militants during an operation to capture a terror suspect and a militant.
US-led coalition forces said they also killed 10 more militants during an air strike on "an improvised explosive device factory" near al-Taji.
During an exchange of fire with the militants, the US forces injured a pregnant woman and killed a teenager in the process.
The woman was being treated for minor injuries in a nearby hospital, the statement said.
A military source also claimed that the forces destroyed rocket-propelled grenades, automatic weapons, anti-aircraft weapons, pipe bombs, and over a kilometre of detonation cord.
