25 arrested for Mangalore pub attack

25 activists of the right-wing Sri Ram Sena have been taken into custody in connection with the assault on girls in a pub in Mangalore.

Eight more people, including some top officials of right wing group Sri Ram Sene, were on Monday arrested in connection with the attack on a pub in Mangalore, taking the total number of arrested persons to twenty-five.

Police said eight more people were taken into custody late in the evening on Monday.

The Sri Ram Sene activists arrested include District convenor, Subash Padil, district Vice-convenor Kishore and City Convenor, Ganesh.
All the accused have been produced before the Judicial Magistrate and they will be in custody till tomorrow morning, police added.

A group of Sri Ram Sene activists had barged into the pub on Balmatta road in the heart of Mangalore city on Saturday and thrashed weekend revellers, including girls, accusing them of behaving in an obscene manner.
