The Secretary, State Mental Health Authority, in his letter dated April 5, 2006 has directed the CMO, Allahabad, to take action against the three private de-addiction centres in Allahabad district within 15 days. These de-addiction centres are Gramothan Jansewa Sansthan, Rasoolabad, Gram Vikas Sewa Samiti, Allahpur and Dwaba Kalyan Samiti village and post Tela, Allahabad.

These centres have been identified by the State Prohibition Officer, under UP Government. The Authority had also made a notification in the past that these organisations were not granted licence for running rehabilitation and de-addiction centres. However, this was the second reminder to the CMO by the Secretary for taking action against these centres.

The Secretary had also asked the CMO to inform the Authority about the action taken by him in compliance to former's orders. The CMO has issued notice to the owners of these three centres. The orders have also been given to close them.

A copy of the order has also been given to Additional Nagar Swasthya Adhikari, Dy Chief Medical Officer, Handia and Assistant Health Officer. They have been asked to take further action in this regard, informed health department sources.
