Police said that the woman had gone to meet an employee of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), identified as Rohtas, at his office in Kanjawala, northwest Delhi.

The woman was reportedly unwell and Rohtas offered to take her to a hospital. However, he led her to an abandoned place and raped her.

"We have arrested the man and a medical examination of the woman was conducted that confirmed rape," said Virendra Singh, deputy commissioner of police.

He added that the doctors who examined the victim also found several injuries on her body.
