According to Jehangirabad SO S M Zaidi, the deceased, Kailash lived in Patel Nagar Colony at Hamidia road. He worked as a gatekeeper at the Sangam talkies. He also doubled as a cable operator. He had come to watch a movie at the Rambha talkies in Jehangirabad area on Sunday. When the movie ended at 2.30 pm, the two culprits Gulab Singh, 35, and Sanjay Singh, 28, – who had followed Kailash to the cinema hall – accosted him.

They forcibly took him to a nearby narrow lane and began hurling abuses and threatened Kailash of dire consequences. However, Kailash resisted and retaliated.

That further angered the culprits and they whipped out knives and began stabbing Kailash. He sustained grievous injuries in the chest and stomach and fell to the ground bleeding profusely. Both assailants fled the spot.

A large crowd gathered at the spot and the police were informed. Kailash was rushed to the Hamidia Hospital in a critical condition. Doctors declared him as brought dead.

Police said both the accused are auto drivers and brothers-in-law. Sanjay’s sister, Aarti, is married to Gulab. It is with Aarti that the duo suspected Kailash to have illicit relations.

Incidentally, Aarti and Sanjay’s wife were also present at the Rambha talkies with Kailash at the time of the incident, police said. A case of murder has been registered. The police arrested Sanjay. A search is on for Gulab and further investigations are on.
