According to an official press release the district magistrate has taken this strong step against assistant basic education officers of Handia, Saidabad, Karchhana, Koraon and Manda development blocks following complaints of poor quality construction of new primary school buildings and class rooms in their areas.

The show-cause notices have sought the officials' explanation as to why they should not be suspended for their laxity in properly supervising the construction work. The DM has also directed that the assistant basic education officers will inform the junior engineer of Rural Engineering Service (RES) about the date and time of laying the RCC roof of the school building and the JE must invariably be present there during that time. If the JE remained absent at the spot despite prior information the salary of the concerned JE will be cut. In case the assistant basic education officer fails to inform the JE on time then the salary of the concerned assistant basic education officer and head master will be cut.

The DM gave these directions while holding a meeting at his camp office with assistant basic education officers with regard to progress of construction of school buildings, mid-day meal scheme and arrangements of teaching.

While issuing directions the DM ordered for photography of the site before and and after the first phase of the construction of the school building. The second installment of funds will be released only after the physical verification of building by the authorised officials. He also directed for installing hand pumps in all schools at the earliest.

While reviewing the mid-day meal scheme the DM warned of serious consequences if laxity is found at any leave. He warned the gram pradhans of Raghuvanspur Rerua in Kaurihar block and of Nagnathpur in Saidabad block to distribute the foodgrains of mid-day meal scheme within two days.
