50-year-old paraded naked as family held at gunpoint

A woman was allegedly stripped and paraded in her village by six men who have a dispute with her family in Morena, 460km north of Bhopal.
The woman, aged 50, had gone to the fields on her way home after grazing cattle when she was caught by her assailants, overpowered and stripped in Balalpur village in Morena district of northern Madhya Pradesh on Saturday evening.
The police said the victim's family had an old dispute with another group in the village.
The victim’s husband and son were forced to remain at home when the incident took place. “We were held at gunpoint in our house and not allowed to move,” said husband Bhogi Ram. “None of the villagers came out to save her,” he said.
The enmity between the victim’s family and those who assaulted her had taken a turn for the worse recently. The victim had therefore told her husband and son to remain at home while she went out.
"She told us she was a woman and therefore no one would dare harm her,” Bhogi Ram said. But the reality turned out otherwise.
The police have arrested four of the accused and are searching for the other two. The accused have been booked for assault on a woman to outrage her modesty, illegal restraint and causing hurt.
