55-60% turnout, six killed: EC

An estimated 55 to 60 percent of the 17.5 crore voters exercised franchise in the second phase of Lok Sabha polls for 136 constituencies spread over 11 states, the Election Commission on April 26 announced.

Andhra Pradesh recorded the highest voters' turnout of 68-70 percent while Srinagar-Badgam constituency in Jammu and Kashmir registered the lowest polling of 21 percent.

Poll-related violence claimed six lives in four states - two each in Andhra Pradesh and Jharkhand and one each in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
