57 children hospitalised after drinking juice

Fifty-seven children have been hospitalsied in Salem after drinking juice distribued among them.

Fifty-seven children have been hospitalsied in Salem on Friday when they vomited and fell unconscious after drinking juice distributed during a procession taken out in connection with a temple festival, police said.

The juice, stored in aluminium vessels, was distributed among children by members in the procession, they said.

The children are being treated at the Mohan Kumaramangalam hospital where their condition was stated to be out of danger.

Police have seized the aluminium vessels in which the juice was kept.
