6 SP MLAs quit party, join BSP

Six Samajwadi Party (SP) MLAs from UP joined the ruling Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) on Friday after being denied tickets for next year’s assembly elections.

State BSP president Swami Prasad Maurya announced the induction of Sultan Beg (Bareilly), Ashok Chandel (Hamirpur), Sarvesh Singh (Azamgarh), Suraj Singh Shakya (Kanshiram Nagar), Sunderlal Lodh (Unnao) and Sandip Agarwal (Moradabad) into the BSP. "More SP MLAs will join the party soon," he said.

Another SP MLA, Sandhya Katheria, had quit the party on Thursday for the same reason.
